I am Professor Emeritus of Urology at Oregon Health & Science University. I specialized in minimally invasive treatment of patients with urologic problems such as urolithiasis, UPJ obstruction, transitional cell carcinoma of the ureter and renal pelvis, and kidney cancer. I was also lucky enough to perform kidney transplants for 13 years. I enjoyed teaching endourology techniques to urology residents, other urologists, and anyone else who will listen. And I loved the challenge of solving complex urologic problems, caring for people and families in the process, and performing observational research.
After practicing urology for over 30 years, I returned to school for a Master's degree in Computer Science, and I am now focusing on data science research, "AI", machine learning, and using data to improve medical care. I am also enjoying reading and discussing great books with many kind and wonderful folks participating in the Catherine Project.
I am blessed to have a wonderful and talented wife, Terri Conlin (her site), four children, and nine grandchildren.
